In my recent quest to find a new nail polish, I stopped by Walmart before work earlier on last week and picked up a L'Oréal shade. I was ready to grab this polish along with my usual OPI clear coat, until I realized the colour I had in my hand was part of a 3-step nail routine. I then found L'Oréal's steps 1&2 in a gold box for the same price I would've bought my OPI clear coat for, so I decided I would try it out (even though I find those at-home gel nail sets very gimmicky). The colour I had picked up was called "Beauty Never Fades" and it is a deep blood-red shade. Perfect for fall but if you know me at all, you know I wear dark berries and reds year-round.
The box claimed to give your nails the look, feel, and 'endurance' of gel nails. A quote from the website: "Our exclusive 3-step nail system for extraordinary nails. L’Oréal Paris Extraordinaire Gel-Lacque provides rich, ultra glossy color and resilient shine while protecting nail color from dings, dents and scratches."
I didn't have necessarily high hopes for this product, but I didn't have low ones either. My nails are very strong and long naturally so nail polish that other people find chips easily, doesn't chip on me. All polishes tend to be the same way on my nails no matter what brand and really the only thing I care about in a polish is that it's a nice colour. That said, I didn't think these 'gel' polishes would impress me much because I'm not usually disappointed in regular polishes to start with.
I put the polish on that night and I did it the way it calls for. Step 1 is a base-coat, which I thought dried extremely quickly, I was impressed with that. Step 2 was the colour, which is says to put two coats of. One coat was alright (streaky at parts) but two was more than enough and the application was beautiful. The first coat (step one) provided a really sleek base and it allowed the colour to glide on. It honestly felt very gel-like. The colour didn't take long to dry and after two coats, I applied step 3, which is the shiny top coat. That applied as expected.
After all was said and done, I was extremely impressed. The finish of my nails was gloss beyond gloss, and they felt like gel. The colour was perfectly even, and if you didn't know my nails were real, you'd think they weren't. Colour. Me. Impressed. I couldn't stop taking snapchats of my nails. I was mildly sceptical at first, in the sense that I didn't think these polishes would do all that they advertise, but honestly, so far, they have. I waited a while before reviewing, because I wanted to see how they lasted on my nails, and they last very well.
I applied my polish on Wednesday or Thursday night and it is now Sunday afternoon. I usually re-paint my nails every week and by the end of that period they've chipped and because my nails grow extremely quickly, you can see my nail growth beyond the polish. I hate that, so I try to re-paint every 7-8 days. I spent my end of the week at work absolutely abusing my nails. On Friday I took a good few hours moving things around, cutting boxes, cleaning, etc. and usually that destroys my polish and makes it look a lot less fresh. I also notice that, typically, my nail polish stops being as shiny and glossy after a day or two. I'm about 4 days in to wearing this stuff, and my nails still look fake. They're still shiny as the day I painted them. The only places that my polish has 'chipped' off is some of the edges on my most-used fingers. That sounds weird, but you know what I mean.
The above photo was taken today, 4 or so days after I painted my nails. There's some obvious wear around the tops of my nails and please lord ignore my cuticles... mama can't be getting manicures all the time and I swear the photo amplified them. My hands are better looking in person. The point is that my shine has held up completely, and I wish the photo did it justice! I posted a photo on my Instagram the day after I did my nails and they were bangin'.
All in all, I'm incredibly impressed with this polish! Especially because I didn't think this/these product(s) would even inspire a review. They're inexpensive, they apply beautifully, they last about as long as a normal nail polish would (depending on the person, of course) but the quality of the polish outlasts the chipping factor, because all polishes chip and that's just how it is. I'm amazed the shine has lasted and the next time I'm at Walmart I'm going to pick up a few new shades!

I hope you guys enjoy this review and I strongly urge you to try this polish set out for yourself. The colour range is pretty great as there's something for everyone and I think no matter what nail type you have, you'll enjoy these.
I'm sorry I've been a bit missing in action lately, I've been working a lot and enjoying my free time outside of that! I hope you had a great weekend, and if you've tried these polishes, what did you think? I'd love to hear your thoughts and read your reviews as well.
